Weiner Wall

Economic Models of Life have been imposed but there is no dent in what they truly believe, 2014

Mural, 161 x 405 cm, Weiner Wall, Tetterode, Amsterdam.

"Burned my money today. My last notes. Also some letters, legal documents - passport, driver's licence, birth-certificate - everything. I tried to burn some coins but they wouldn't even melt. I took some petrol from the car and poured it all over its interior and engine and lit the fucker up like a barbecue. Grabbed my bag and ran. I ran across a field and into a forest. After a while I arrived at a lake. I swam across the lake and forgot about the books that were in my bag. When I checked they were bone-dry still."

Part of the Weiner Wall project: a series of commissioned temporary murals painted over an original work by Lawrence Weiner at Tetterode Building, Amsterdam.

Project artists: Rob Birza, Jan van der Ploeg, Sonia Rijnhout, Sebastiaan Schlicher, Gracia Khouw, Hadassah Emmerich, Aafke Bennema , Erik Odijk, Lawrence Weiner.
